Mission
To produce graduates who have a comprehensive and sufficient knowledge of Biotechnology and its relationship with other fields of science, who are ready for graduate education, who are sensitive to the principles and ethics of scientific research, who can think innovatively, who can transfer theoretical knowledge to practice, who adopt group work, who have improved communication, who are responsible, who follow innovations and who have brains inclined to take innovations.

Main Discipline Facilities
The program has 12 faculty members including 2 Professors, 3 Associate Professors and 7 Assistant Professors. In the interdisciplinary biotechnology department, many international and national research projects (Tübitak, Tagem, Bap) are carried out thanks to the research facilities of Bioengineering, Food Engineering and Environmental Engineering departments and the comprehensive analytical device infrastructure of the Central Research Laboratory of our university.

Graduates can work in the field of research and development in many different health and technology sectors in line with the knowledge and skills required to solve problems related to health, environment, agriculture, industry and biotechnology. Graduates of the program can have many job opportunities in government and private sector companies, all R&D laboratories for biological sciences, biotechnology companies. Agriculture and animal husbandry: Use of enzymes in raw material extraction, production of useful substances for agriculture, development of disease-resistant plants, design of new antimicrobial materials, etc. Environmental application areas: Processing of waste materials into useful substances, wastewater treatment, etc. Health application areas: Drug development, pesticide development, biological control, device and system development, smart systems. Gene therapies and stem cell applications. Hospitals and other clinical areas, domestic and foreign biotechnology companies Energy Sector: Methane gas production, algae green energy production

Purpose of the Program
The interdisciplinary program of the Department of Biotechnology continues its activities with the contributions of faculty members from Bursa Technical University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Bioengineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Engineering departments. The Biotechnology program aims to provide candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in basic sciences, health sciences and engineering disciplines with the basic knowledge and developments in the field of biotechnology and to enable them to specialize in current issues in the fields of biological sciences. The aim of the Biotechnology program is to train ethically responsible specialists by providing the necessary knowledge and skills to solve problems related to the main areas of biotechnology: health biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, industrial biotechnology and agricultural biotechnology. Students who successfully complete the program gain the ability to access, evaluate and interpret information as well as learning and applying advanced research techniques.

The aim of the Biotechnology program is to train experts with ethical responsibility by gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to solve the problems related to health biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, industrial biotechnology and agricultural biotechnology, which are the main areas of biotechnology that our country needs. With this program, it is aimed to contribute to the development and spread of biotechnology in our country and in the world by conducting advanced experimental research to solve current problems.
History of the Program
Interdisciplinary Biotechnology graduate program was established in 2016 within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. It started education in the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year with its first students. In the fall semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, the doctoral program was opened. There are currently 12 academic staff in the program.
